Open since 1927, the Sacramento Zoo is home to over 140 native, exotic and endangered species and is one of over 200 accredited institutions of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums. Located near the corner of Land Park Drive and Sutterville Road in Land Park, the Zoo is wholly managed by the non-profit Sacramento Zoological Society and provides an educational and recreational resource to the Sacramento Region.
The Zoo’s Public Relations Department is available to assist you by providing background information, coordinating on-site photography and videography requests, and in servicing the news media.

Board of Trustees
The Sacramento Zoo is a 501(c)(3) no-profit corporation. Twenty four volunteer leaders meet monthly to oversee the operation of the Zoo. Sacramento Zoological Society has wholly managed the Sacramento Zoo since 1997. Three members designated to be on the board are: the Docent President, a City Representative, and the Zoo Director.

The Sacramento Zoo is a member of local and national associations.
The Sacramento Zoo is home to three approximately 300-year-old Valley Oak trees, also known as Heritage Oak trees.
