Special Events Help with organization, food service, raffle ticket sales, set-up, or clean-up of our major fund raising events such as: Zoo Zoom - our foot race and fun run starting at the Zoo and going through Land Park. King of Feasts - our evening food and wine tasting event. Zoo Parents Picnic - picnic-style dinner & auction for animal sponsors (Zoo Parents) Ice Cream Safari - our all-you-can-eat ice cream extravaganza. Wild Affair - our gala dinnner, tour, and auction. Teen Volunteers & Camp Counselors Teens, ages 15-19, can explore animal-related careers while gaining work experience. As part of our summer camp and year-round Zoo Teen programs, teen volunteers help teach children and families about the animals, the environment and conservation. Gardens Alive Do you love to garden? Looking for a garden to love? We have several in need of your tender loving care: Front Entrance Garden Camellia Garden Caliornia Zoo's Backyard Rose Garden African Garden Sensory Garden, just to mention a few.
Keeper-Aide (Must be 18 years or older) Qualified volunteers work with keeper staff, cleaning, feeding and maintaining the animal exhibits. Will be working under the direct supervision of zoo keepers, will be working in close proximity to animals – no physical contact will be allowed. Application approval and safety orientation required.
Docents Docents are volunteer educators who provide tours, station talks and wildlife wagons for zoo visitors. You'll learn about the exciting animals that live at the zoo and current conservation issues worldwide. Find out all the details by talking with our course committee.
