Leap Day Celebration
Monday, February 29 - 9 am to 4 pm
Celebrate Leap Day at the Sacramento Zoo! Enjoy Keeper Chats focused on the Zoo’s greatest leapers, visit EdZOOcation Stations and become a Zoo Parent with a great package deal on one of our featured leapers, the Coquerel’s Sifaka. Leap Day is also Gus the Green Tree Frog’s birthday! Sign his birthday card and take a picture with him as he makes guest appearances throughout the day.

Recycle Rummage Sale   
Saturday, April 2 - 9 am to 4 pm
Find great bargains on books, housewares, collectibles, jewelry and more at our annual rummage sale. Proceeds benefit conservation efforts here and around the world. Located in the Kampala Conference Center inside the Sacramento Zoo. Included with Zoo admission and part of the Earth Fest activities.

Earth Fest - It's a Party for the Planet!
Saturday, April 2 - 9 am to 4 pm
It’s a party for the planet! Celebrate the world through environmental conservation and cultural appreciation. Learn how to protect and preserve the earth while enjoying a variety of cultural dance performances scheduled throughout the day. Learn about animals from around the world during Stage Shows and Keeper Chats!

ZooZoom
Sunday, April 17 - Race starts at 8 am
Join the stampede as thousands of runners raise funds to benefit the Zoo. Are you as fast as a hare or as slow as a tortoise? Find out on Sunday, April 17 at the 36th annual ZooZoom. There are options for everyone from a 5K to a 10K to the Saucony ‘Run for Good’, Kid’s Fun Runs.

Star Wars Day: May the Forest Be With You   
Saturday, April 30 - 9 am to 4 pm
Meet your favorite Star Wars characters without making a trip to a galaxy far, far away. Visitors are encouraged to bring their cameras and pose for free photos with the costumed characters from 10 am to 2 pm. Visitors will learn how animal adaptations and behaviors in our galaxy relate to the creatures from the Star Wars universe through stage shows, crafts and other activities. The animals will join in on the fun as they enjoy special Star Wars themed enrichment items throughout the day.

Camera and Lens Demo Day and Test Drive
Sunday, May 1 - 9 am to 4:30 pm
Join Mike's Camera at the Sacramento Zoo and test drive the latest camera, telephoto, lenses and other photo gear from leading manufacturers and pick up tips and tricks from the Mike's Camera crew who will be onsite.

Senior Tea & Tours
Mondays, May 2, 9, 16 - 9:30 am to 12 pm
Have a pleasant cup of tea and a guided tour of the Sacramento Zoo! Designed especially for seniors ages 55 and over, your group will be met by Docents (volunteer educators) and will tour part of the zoo. During the tea break you'll be served lemonade, tea, coffee, finger sandwiches, breads and cookies.

Big Day of Giving - 24 Hours to Give Where Your Heart Is

Wine & Brew at the Zoo
Saturday, May 14 - 5:30 to 8:30 pm
Join your friends at Sacramento’s newest event – Wine and Brew at the Zoo! Enjoy samples of local wine and beer from some of your favorite wineries and breweries.  Take in the luscious green landscape of the Zoo, surrounded by exotic animals, during this exclusive after-hours event. Food is available for purchase from some of your favorite local food trucks. Zoo closes early at 1:30 pm.

World Turtle Day
Sunday, May 22 - 10 am to 3 pm
Join us for a fun and educational event celebrating World Turtle Day! Stop by our bake sale and activity station near the Turtle tank at the Red Panda boardwalk to learn about turtles and tortoises!  Keeper chats will be scheduled throughout the day allowing for an up close encounter with our shelled friends and a chance to watch them enjoy some tasty treats. Proceeds benefit the Turtle Survival Alliance, an action-oriented global partnership that is committed to zero turtle extinctions.

Stuffed Animal Veterinary Clinic
Saturday, May 28 - 10 am to 3 pm
Is your teddy bear feeling under the weather? Does your stuffed animal have a cut that needs fixing? We are here to help! A Stuffed Animal Veterinarian will assess the overall health of your stuffed animal and make a diagnosis based on the symptoms. Exams are just $3 per stuffed animal. Repairs with exam are $5 and stuffed animals adoptions with exam are $4. Proceeds benefit OVAID, a nonprofit that provides veterinary equipment, supplies, medication and veterinary presence and mentoring to Orangutan NGO's in Indonesia and Malaysia.

Member Evening

Visit the Zoo after everyone else has gone home. Bring your own dinner or stop by Kampala Cafe, we’ll also have unique activities and lots of fun. You can also support the local chapter of the American Association of Zoo Keepers by purchasing a pre-made enrichment for one of the animals that evening.

Dinner and breakfast are provided!

Wells Fargo Wednesdays
Wednesdays, July 13, 20, 27 - 9 am to 4 pm
Bring your kids to the Zoo for free on three Wednesdays in July thanks to Wells Fargo! Up to four kids, ages 2-11 will be admitted for free with a paid adult. Wells Fargo will offer kids one free ride ticket for either the train or carousel. On July 27th, the famous Wells Fargo Stage Coach will also be here along with special treats and activities.

Pokémon Go Day
Saturday, July 16 - 9 am to 4 pm
The Zoo has been taken over by Pokémon! With nine Pokéstops and two Gyms on 14 acres, Trainers can do everything at the Zoo – catch Pokémon, hatch eggs, take over a gym and meet other players. Visit the Zoo on Saturday, July 16th for Pokémon Go Day and take advantage of two lures set at various Pokéstops inside the Zoo continuously from 9 am to 4 pm.

Bring the entire family to enjoy all-you-can-eat Baskin-Robbins Ice Cream at the 32nd Annual Ice Cream Safari. It's a brain-freezing good time from 4 to 8 pm. Zoo closes early at 1:30 pm.

Sacramento River Cats Zoo Night
Saturday, September 3 - 7:05 pm
Watch the River Cats take on the Fresno Grizzlies at the last Satruday home game of the season as the players wear special Red Panda jerseys that will be auctioned off to benefit the Sacramento Zoo. Purchase advanced tickets here, use promo code "ZOO" and a portion will be donated to the Zoo!

Senior Tea & Tours
Mondays, September 12 & 19 - 9:30 am to Noon
You'll hear about where we've been and where we're going. This program is for seniors only (ages 55 and over) on selected Mondays. Your group will be met by Docents (volunteer educators) and will tour part of the zoo. During the tea break you'll be treated to ice tea, lemonade, and water, plus 'tea sandwiches', salad and cookies. All Tea & Tours programs start at the front gate of the Zoo at 9:30 am and will last until about Noon..

Deaf Awareness Day
Saturday, September 17 - 9 am to 3 pm
Join us for a special day for our deaf and hard of hearing community sponsored by NorCal Services for Deaf and Hard of Hearing. The Zoo will have ASL interpreters on site for the event. There are limited facilities for service animals. Please call (916) 808-5888 in advance.

Red Panda Day
Saturday, September 10 - 10 am to 4 pm
Join us for an interactive and educational event about Red Panda awareness and conservation. Kids (and adults too!) can become “Red Panda Rangers” after stopping at the various Red Panda Stations and completing the Panda activities. Julia Roberts from VanGoGirl Paint Parties will be on grounds doing painting demonstrations featuring- you guessed it, Red Panda! Other stations include face painting and an opportunity to decorate your own flag that will be added to the ones currently surrounding the Red Panda exhibit. Come by and purchase raffle tickets for a chance to win your favorite Red Panda themed artwork, décor, and other keepsakes. All proceeds benefit The Red Panda Network (RPN), a conservation group working directly with community-based organizations in Nepal.

Wild Affair

The Wild Affair fundraiser offers guests the chance to spend an enchanted evening behind the scenes at the Sacramento Zoo. This annual Gala event includes a delicious full-course gourmet dinner, followed by a silent and live auction with plenty of wine, spirits and endless hors d'oeuvres. Zoo closes early at 1:30 pm.

All New Boo at the Zoo
Saturday & Sunday, October 29 & 30 – 11 am to 5 pm (Members Only Hour 10 – 11 am)
Bring the family and experience the all new daytime Boo at the Zoo. Play some ghoulish games, create creepy crafts and trick or treat around the whole Zoo while enjoying all of the animals. It’s a safe and fun Halloween celebration perfect for all ages. This is a ticketed event. Zoo closed for general admission and membership passes both days.

Food Drive
November 1 to December 24 - 10 am to 4 pm
Bring a non-perishable food item when you visit the Zoo and receive $1 off your Zoo admission!  Food donations benefit the River City Food Bank. 

Member Appreciation Mornings
Saturdays, November 5, 12, 19, 26 -  9 to 10 am
Stroll around the Zoo before we open to the public on four consecutive Saturdays in November! Enjoy free rides on the Zoo Train and Conservation Carousel and a 20% discount in the Zoofari Market gift store until 10 am. Just show your membership card at the entrance.

Military Family Day
Friday, November 11 - 10 am to 4 pm
In appreciation for our troops, all military personnel, veterans and their families receive a 50% discount  on Zoo admission with a valid military identification card.

Holiday Magic
Saturday, December 10 - 10 am to 4 pm
Why should only humans receive gifts during the holidays?  It’s time for Holiday Magic—watch as the animals unwrap their holiday goodies! Please bring a nonperishable food item and receive $1 off your Sacramento Zoo admission.

AAZK Wreath Sale Fundraiser
Weekends, December 3  to 18 - 11:30 am to 1:30 pm
Celebrate the holiday season with homemade fresh and burlap wreaths in addition to ornaments painted by the Zoo animals! We will be inside the front of the Zoo during the December weekends selling beautiful wreaths and ornaments for your home. While supplies last. Proceeds benefit Greater Sac AAZK animal conservation efforts.

PJ Party Christmas Eve
Saturday, December 24 - 10 am to 1:30 pm
Celebrate Christmas Eve at the Zoo, and you don't have to change out of your pajamas! That's right, admission is free and we will be in our best pjs. Join us! Zoo closes early at 1:30 pm.
