Bogota, Colombian Boa
Bogota is named after the capital city in Colombia. He came to the Sacramento Zoo in 2001 from another zoo. Bogota weighs around 10 kilograms which converts to 22 pounds! He eats every two weeks for a total of 3 rats a month. The average length for a Colombian boa is about 10 feet and Bogota measures in at about 6 feet long. This snake enjoys sunning out on the Reptile House lawn and even tries to stalk squirrels.
Colombian boa constrictors are native to the woodlands and rainforests of Central and South America. This type of snake is also known as the red tailed boa. |
