A magical evening of locally grown food, drink & entertainment; a party with a purpose

Experience the 15th annual Wild Affair at the Sacramento Zoo on Saturday evening, October 2nd from 5:00 to 10:00 pm.  Guests will enjoy regional food, cocktails with local ingredients, silent and live auctions and exclusive behind-the-scenes tours. Proceeds from the event benefit one of our native species, the North American river otter.

Unlike any other Sacramento gala, Wild Affair offers the opportunity to experience chimpanzees and lemurs up close, tour where snow leopards and giant anteaters dwell, and stand eye to eye with the giraffes at the brand new Tall Wonders Pavilion. Behind-the-scenes tours are guided by the animal care staff.

At dusk, guests will enjoy a delicious Farm-to-Fork dinner prepared by Patrick Mulvaney of Mulvaney Building & Loan.  Live auction offerings include a dinner party for 10 with the giraffes at the Tall Wonders Pavilion; a Conservation Carousel party for 32 favorite friends; or a Champagne Yacht Cruise on the River for six.  This magical evening is hosted by Dave Bender of CBS13.  Throughout dinner the Sacramento Zoo staff and volunteers will perform “My Fair Otter,” written by Ed Goldman, theatre enthusiast and columnist for Sacramento Magazine, (you may notice some similarities to the classic notes of My Fair Lady).

Wild Affair is a party with a purpose; proceeds from the event benefit Splash! North American River Otter Habitat Expansion Project. One of the older exhibits at the Zoo, the otter pool and holding area are in need of a facelift. Plans are on the drawing board for renovation of the current exhibit to enlarge the usable space, provide more adequate off-exhibit dens and keeper area, and allow for a more visually-pleasing habitat for visitors to observe and enjoy the daily antics of the Zoo’s two North American river otters.

Tickets for Wild Affair are $150 per person and a table sponsorship for eight is $1,500. Space is limited; early reservations are recommended. Please call 916-808-8815 or visit for information and reservations.
