Spend the Night at the Sacramento Zoo
Overnight Safaris make for a great family adventure.
Explore the Zoo in a whole new light—moonlight. Experience this unique side of the Zoo with your family without the rush of the daytime crowds. Meet some of the animals up close and personal. Then, as night falls, camp out under the stars just yards away from dozing flamingos.
The Overnight Safari kicks off as your family parks the car along Big Cat Row and sets up camp on the Reptile House Lawn. Once everyone is settled in, enjoy a scrumptious spaghetti dinner while the sounds of nature transport you from the city to an evening in the wild. After dinner, bring the camera along as you see the giraffes kick up their heels, the elusive sloth come out and hear the lion roar while exploring the Zoo.
There will also be activity stations for children, nocturnal nibbles for the creatures, and docents to open your eyes to the wild world of zoo animals. Before hunkering down in your tent at bedtime, top-off the evening with close up animal encounters, campfire songs, game show trivia and a late night snack. Wake up to the calls of the flamingos, singing birds, chattering monkeys and breakfast. Make this a memorable experience that will last a lifetime for everyone in your family or small group.
