Join the Sacramento Zoo at the 18th annual fundraising gala, Once Upon a Wild Affair. Enter a unique storybook atmosphere that includes guided behind-the-scene tours that are only offered once a year. During the evening, the Sacramento Zoological Society will recognize Starr W. Hurley for her generous contributions and ongoing support of the Sacramento Zoo.
Unlike any other Sacramento gala, attendees begin their evening with the opportunity to experience monkeys and lemurs up close, tour where a Sumatran Tiger cub and Giant Anteater dwell, and stand eye-to-eye with the giraffes. Behind-the-scenes tours like these are only offered during this exclusive annual event. Between tours, there is an opportunity to participate in a silent auction and enjoy hosted specialty cocktails and appetizers.
At dusk, guests will gather under a spacious tent decorated for an enchanted evening, where they will enjoy a delicious farm-to-fork dinner prepared by Patrick Mulvaney of Culinary Specialists and Mulvaney’s B&L. Live auction offerings include a dinner party at the Zoo, an overnight at Safari West, vacation home in South Lake Tahoe, an afternoon of golf and a River Cats Luxury Suite. This magical evening is hosted by Dave Bender of CBS13. Throughout dinner, Sacramento Zoo staff and volunteers will bring storybook characters, both good and evil, to life.
“I am excited that the Zoo will be honoring Starr W. Hurley at Wild Affair. She is the most passionate and enthusiastic Board Member I have ever had the pleasure of working with,” said Mary Healy, Director/CEO of the Sacramento Zoo. “She is a tireless champion for the Sacramento Zoo who takes the time to connect with the staff and truly embrace the Zoo’s mission to be wildly inspiring.”
Proceeds from this exclusive evening will go toward Zoo exhibit renovations and improvements.
Dress is cocktail attire, no glass slippers required. Princesses and knights in shining armor are welcome. Complimentary valet service will be available at the front of the Zoo.
