Sponsor Spotlight: The Save Mart Companies

Categories: Sponsor Spotlight, Support the Zoo

The Sacramento Zoo is proud to celebrate the corporate sponsors who make it possible to keep our mission growing and to help us continue improving the zoo. Each quarter, we like to recognize a corporate donor that has truly made a difference to our organization through their generosity of time, donation, and spirit.

You can’t have Ice Cream Safari without copious amounts of ice cream. Thanks to The Save Mart Companies, Ice Cream Safari is ready to embark on its 33rd year of bringing smiles, full tummies, and brain freezes to families in Sacramento while they enjoy a day strolling the 14 lush acres of the Sacramento Zoo.

The Save Mart Companies have been feeding families since 1952. Based in the heart of the Central Valley, it operates 207 stores throughout California and Northern Nevada under the brands Save Mart, Lucky and FoodMaxx. The grocer today continues the legacy of its founders, Nick Tocco and Mike Piccinini, who believed it was important to give back to the communities their stores serve.

The Save Mart Companies has partnered with the Sacramento Zoo since 2015 . Save Mart is passionate about aligning with organizations that nourish community. That doesn’t just mean through food. It also conveys support by any means to help to strengthen communities.

“We want the communities we serve to thrive,” said Save Mart Store Manager John Martin (Keifer Boulevard location in Sacramento). “By supporting the zoo, we show that we are prioritizing kids, education and the environment.”
