Employee Profile: Dani White

Categories: Employee of the Month, Visitor Services

Each month a zoo staff member is selected as employee of the month. The individual selected has gone above and beyond their job description and embodies the core values of zoo. He or she leads with animal welfare, obsesses over service, works smart with heart, and ultimately leaves the world a better place.

DaniDani White has quickly proven to be a valuable member of the zoo team.  Starting here as a volunteer and moving to an employee position with the Grounds department, she has always worked hard by owning it and doing it right.

Prior to working at the zoo Dani worked in forestry and in construction. Earlier this year she decided that it was time to pack her belongings into a VW Beetle and move to Sacramento to seek new opportunities. Once in Sacramento she volunteered at the zoo for about a month before applying for an open position in the Grounds department. Outside of work Dani plays the bass guitar (she is currently looking for a band) and is a freelance bartender.

Dani has worked summer events and rentals as one of the few representatives of her department, with no questions asked.  Working long and hard hours during extreme weather with nothing but a smile on her face.

Working in Grounds is no easy task, we all know that, but Dani still manages to obsess over service while respecting others and taking time to help anyone who needs it.  Consistently since her first days as a volunteer, Dani brings smiles to guests and coworkers alike with her positive attitude and contagious grin. To us, she really leaves the Sacramento Zoo a better place.

Thank you Dani!
