Employee Profile: Joshua Bott

Categories: Employee of the Month

Joshua BottEach month a zoo staff member is selected as employee of the month. The individual selected has gone above and beyond their job description and embodies the core values of the Sacramento Zoo. He or she leads with animal welfare, obsesses over service, works smart with heart, and ultimately leaves the world a better place.

During a normal day at the zoo, Joshua Bott can be found doing a variety of things from building a fence or renovating something, to building something for an animal. However, that is not all that Joshua does. In preparation for the holiday season, he built a throne for Santa’s workshop and dressed as the jolly man himself to the delight of children and adults at the Breakfast with Santa and PJ Party events Day at the zoo. He then continued to take photos with guests as he walked through the zoo. His dedication to the zoo has always been top notch. The happiness he brought to the guests during Christmas only shows us another reason why the Sacramento Zoo is a wonderful place to work and visit.

Guests can also look forward to seeing Joshua at Star Wars Day at the Sacramento Zoo. As a member of the 501st Legion, he volunteers his time to local charity events as a Storm Trooper. He has dedicated many hours to giving back to the community through the 501st Legion.

Like a true zoo employee, Joshua has trouble identifying a single animal at the zoo as his favorite (the more you know about the animals the more you love each one in a unique way). Joshua Bott is one of the most humble and grateful people you might ever meet. The Sacramento Zoo is lucky to have him as part of the facilities team.
