There is always something new at the zoo! Here are some things for you to check out during the month of March.
Skip the spring break crowds and come early
Spring Break is just around the corner. With so many schools out at the end of March, you can expect larger crowds. Skip waiting in line by coming early and enjoy more time in the zoo!
Wildlife Stage Shows; new and returning staff ready to wow
Animals ambassadors can be found on stage during fun educational shows this spring. Education Specialists handle, train, and care for the ambassadors year-round! Kate is brand new to the Sacramento Zoo family whereas Brooke can be found returning to the stage after five years. Both are excited to meet you and teach you about the animal ambassadors they care for! Wildlife stage shows occur at 11 a.m. Friday-Sunday in March.
Hawk flight school; diversity for a better training experience
Animal Ambassador, Sig the Harris’ hawk, can be found soaring above the Reptile House Lawn on many warm afternoons. He has recently seen some new visitors too! Zoo staff from all departments gather and raise a glove for him to fly to. The diversity of participants works as enrichment for his training, aiding in his comfortability before the show season crowds. It just so happens to be a thrilling experience for the staff too!
New EGGstravaganZOO event
It’s an egg-take over at the zoo! Save the Easter Bunny time hiding eggs by attending EGGstravaganZOO. Egg hunts are scheduled throughout the day, just sure to register for one when you arrive at the zoo. Even those who do not participate in the hunts can search for giant hidden Emu eggs and take part in plenty of EGGtivities. EGGstravaganZOO is included with zoo admission.
Wine & Brew tickets are on sale
Get a chance to experience an after-hours kid-free zoo! Back for its third year, Wine & Brew at the Zoo has easily made itself one of the most popular zoo events. It sells out every year so get your tickets early to come support the animals while experiencing Sacramento’s finest wineries and craft breweries. Stay safe by inviting a designated driver for the group! DD’s receive unlimited non-alcoholic drinks with an unbeatable discount admission.
Faces on trees – look up and see if you spot any on your next zoo adventure
The zoo’s horticulturist wanted to bring a whole new level of fun to the zoo, high up in the trees. The next time you visit be extra observant to see if you can find all seven of the faces hidden on the trees around the zoo.
