The Sacramento Zoo isn’t just for kids! Adults and seniors can expand their learning through photography classes and specialized Tea & Tours programs that include a nice cup of tea and a tour of the zoo.

The research pass is designed for college students who are required to complete an observational research assignment. With this pass, students can make up to three single visits at their convenience at a discounted rate of $7.50 per visit.
Professors apply for the research passes on behalf of their students.
To apply, provide the professors name, college name, semester dates, contact and mailing information, class roster and class assignment via email to the Reservation Specialist.
- All necessary information must be received before your request can be processed.
- Please allow three weeks for processing.
- Once your request has been approved, individual passes will be assigned to each student on your class roster.
- The research pass, a valid photo ID, and payment must be presented at the time of entry.

Hone your photography skills by focusing your lens on Sacramento Zoo’s colorful creatures with Mike’s Camera for a photo safari workshop! This three-day experience includes a class session, a visit to the zoo to practice your skills, and a follow-up critique to continue to improve your abilities. The experts at Mike’s Camera will give you all of the tips and tricks you need to know in order to achieve the most stunning wildlife photos. Best of all, 50% of your tuition goes to support the Sacramento Zoo. Don’t forget to register early since these workshops are limited to only 25 people.

On-site, hands-on photo safari at the Sacramento Zoo
8:30 am: Check in at main entrance and proceed to the Kampala Conference Room
9:00 am: Up-close photography session featuring animal ambassadors
9:45 am: Photograph animals around the zoo
11:00 am: End photo safari on the Reptile House lawn
Participants are welcome to tour and photograph the zoo on their own after class.

Join Mike’s Camera at the Sacramento Zoo for a camera and lens demo day and test drive while taking photos of the more than 500 colorful residents of the zoo. Enjoy FREE camera, lens and tripod loaners; from the latest cameras to exotic telephoto lenses and other photo gear from leading manufacturers. Plus, you’ll pick up some great photo tips and tricks from the Mike’s Camera crew who’ll be on-site throughout the zoo at select picture point locations to ensure you get the best shots.

You’ll hear about where we’ve been and where we’re going. This program is for seniors only (ages 55 and over) on selected Mondays. Your group will be met by volunteer docent educators and will tour part of the zoo. During the tea break you’ll be treated to ice tea, lemonade, and water, plus ‘tea sandwiches’, salad and cookies. All Tea & Tours programs start at the front gate of the zoo at 9:30 am and will last until about noon.
