Come have the wildest visit at the Sacramento Zoo!
A core component of the Sacramento Zoo’s mission is education. We are proud to offer special field trip and group reservations, providing a unique opportunity to learn more about animal behavior, ecology, conservation, and more!
Making a Reservation
Reservation requests must be submitted a minimum of 2 weeks before your reservation date. Discounted rates are only available by reservation.
Max attendance capacity per reservation: 250 people
All reservations require at least a minimum of a 1:8 ratio (one adult per 8 minors/students)
Field Trips
Field trips are defined as an educational program attached to an organization (i.e.: charter school, college, home school, TK-12 public, preschool, private, schools for homeless, etc.). The field trip must have a minimum of 12 individuals to qualify for the discounted rate and have a minimum of a 1:8 ratio (one adult per 8 minors/students).

Adult and student admission: $9.00 per person
Children ages 0-1: Free

Title 1 Field Trips
Title 1 is a federal education program that supports low-income students throughout the nation. Schools that hold a Title 1 status meet the percentage of low-income students needed to qualify for this program. The Title 1 field trip must have a minimum of 12 individuals to qualify for the discounted rate, MUST be a verified Title 1 school as of the current year, and have a minimum of a 1:8 ratio (one adult per 8 minors/students)

Anyone aged 2 and above: $5.00 per person
Children ages 0-1: Free

*Title 1 statuses will be verified prior to your visit by the reservation specialist. If Title 1 status cannot be confirmed, you will be contacted and charged the standard field trip rate on the day of your visit.

Groups
A group is a non-educational organization or group of at least 20 individuals that wishes to arrive together to visit the zoo. Children under the age of 2 and Sacramento Zoo members who receive free admission do not count toward that minimum number. Group must have a minimum of a 1:8 ratio (one adult per 8 minors/students).

ADDITIONAL PROGRAMMING
You may request additional educational programming to enhance your experience during the reservation process.
Survive and Thrive: An Animal Adaptation Show (seasonal)
This 20-minute, interactive show features three animal ambassadors and takes your students on a worldwide habitat tour to discover how an animal’s survival is dependent on their adaptations.
- Designed for Kindergarten – 6th grade
- Months available: March/April/May and September/October
- Available: Monday – Friday
- A program request does not guarantee a booking. Programs are subject to staffing availability. Education programs are booked on a first-come, first-served basis.
- Program start times: 9:30 am, 10 am, 10:30 am, or 11am
- 200 persons maximum
- Cost: $4 per person, with a required minimum payment of $80; children under 2 are free.
You MUST also submit Field Trip or Group Reservation request to visit the zoo for the same date.
The research pass is designed for college students who are required to complete an observational research assignment. With this pass, students can make up to three single visits at their convenience at a discounted rate of $10 per visit.
Professors apply for the research passes on behalf of their students.
To apply, provide the professors name, college name, semester dates, contact and mailing information, class roster and class assignment via email to the Reservations department.
Details:
- All necessary information must be received before your request can be processed.
- Please allow three weeks for processing.
- Once your request has been approved, individual passes will be assigned to each student on your class roster.
- The research pass, a valid photo ID, and payment must be presented at the time of entry.
