Little PEEPS
Each Little Peeps class is 2 hours long, 9:30 to 11:30 am, and designed for 3- to 5-year-olds with a caregiver. Little Peeps will gather around for story time and make a take-home craft. During the class, we will visit one of our animal ambassadors. Class themes are the same for the whole week; register for one class per week.

- $45 per class for Sacramento Zoo members, $50 for non-members

Fall Class Topics!
This fall we will be learning all about Habitats! Come learn about one, two, or join us all six weeks and become a habitat hotshot! We will learn about what these habitats look like, who lives there, and what makes those animals unique
Savannahs: September 19, 20, 21
The savannah is a unique habitat with tall grasses and tall giraffes! But who else lives on the savannah? Come to the first Little Peeps class of the fall to find out!
Swamps: September 26, 27, 28
Swamps are filled with many unique creatures! Come to this class to learn about the exceptional animals that live in swamps.
Deserts: October 3, 4, 5
Who can survive in a dry, hot desert? Do the animals that live there need water? Where do they go to cool down? We will answer all these questions and more!
Temperate Forests: October 10, 11, 12
These forests are all over the world! In this class we will learn about creatures who live up high in the trees as well as ones who navigate the forest floor.
Rainforests: October 17, 18, 19
In this class we will be learning about rainforests around the world. They are full of colorful birds and interesting reptiles that live within the layers of this habitat! Come learn about these awesome creatures with us!
Ponds & Streams: October 24, 25, 26
We have ponds and streams all around us here in California but what animals live in them? In this class we will meet some local friends from river and pond habitats.
Please do not come to class if you feel ill. Contact the Reservations department at 916-808-8445 if anyone in your party has COVID-19 symptoms and is unable to attend class.
- Masks are optional both indoors and while outside.
- The Little Peeps class will be primarily outdoors, but there will be times when lessons are taught inside the education classroom.
- Students and parents will be distanced from each other inside as much as the classroom allows.
- Animal encounters and enrichment will occur outside when weather permits.
- The zoo will not be providing a snack, but time will be allotted for guests to eat snacks they bring from home, outside when weather permits, while socially distanced.
- All classroom surfaces will be disinfected prior to the class starting for the day, and immediately following the end of class at 11:30 am.
If a class is full and you wish to put your child on a wait list, you can find that by going to the Little Peeps wait list page.
- Find the appropriate week and day you would like to attend, and fill out your student’s information.
- Do not refresh the page – that will re-submit the same wait list request that you just submitted. If you are putting multiple students on the wait list, you need to follow the link again to the wait list.
Refunds for cancellations will only be given if the program is cancelled by the Sacramento Zoo OR your child has COVID-like symptoms and is isolating at home. To receive a refund, a doctor’s note or an administered COVID test showing proof of testing (even if negative) must be sent to the Reservation Specialist.
To submit a cancellation request, please visit our Program Cancellation Policy page. Contact the Reservations department to inquire about a session transfer, pending availability. A $5 session transfer fee may be required.
How to register for Little Peeps
- Choose the specific class you wish to register for
a. If you are registering for more than one class, each must be done individually
b. If you are signing up multiple children in one class, that can be done all at once - Type in the number of students you are registering in that specific class and click register
- Enter student info
a. You need to provide their name, phone number, and address
b. Do NOT click “use as billing info”, this information will be entered in at different time
c. DO click “Apply to all tickets” if you want the last name and phone number that you just entered, associated with all campers you are registering only in this class - Parent/Guardian information
You need to provide the name, phone number, and email of the parent or guardian - Additional Emergency contact information
Please provide the name, phone number, and relationship to the child of your chosen emergency contact - Child information
You need to provide the following information, please have it ready:
a. Age
b. Birthday
c. Gender
d. Any allergies your child has
e. If they will be carrying an inhaler, Epi Pen, or other medication to camp
f. What hospital you wish them to be taken to in case of an emergency
g. A name for their button if different from the name they are registering with
h. Additional notes to help us meet your child’s needs - Policies you will need to review and/or agree to:
a. Promotional photo release
b. Cancellation and class change policy
c. Release of liability
d. We will also ask you how you heard about camp - Additional student (in this class)
a. If you are registering multiple students within one class, this is where you enter that second child’s information
b. b. For ease and speed, you can copy some fields as you go, including Policies and Parent/Guardian information. Look for the small, orange links on the right side of the screen under the specific sections. - Add to Cart

E-tickets are the only delivery option for camp registration— you will now have 15 minutes until you submit your payment before this class times out of your cart —
How to Add More Classes
- To add more classes and/or campers, CLICK THE BACK BUTTON on your browser twice to get back to the screen with all weeks listed. We do not recommend clicking “continue shopping” it will take you to a page with many more choices that are not camp-related.
- Choose another class
- Repeat the entire process until all your campers are registered
NOTE: You can speed up the process by using the “Auto-fill” drop down option under the registrant info title. The information will be automatically generated from the registrant info already in your cart.
Check out
- Once all students have been registered and you are in your shopping cart, click “check out”. This will take you to the payment area
- You are not done until you have clicked the “COMPLETE PAYMENT” button. You will then see a confirmation screen as well as receive a set of acknowledgement emails.
Can I bring my younger child to the Little Peeps class with me?
Siblings and other children are not allowed into the classes unless they are restricted to a stroller or a carrier with the big buddy at all times. We are in a small space and want our Little Peeps participants to be able to fully enjoy the class!
Can more than one adult attend the Little Peeps class with one child?
Due to COVID restrictions, we strongly recommend only one adult accompanying registered children, especially when classes are being held indoors, however up to two adults may attend per registered child.
Can one adult bring more than one little peeps?
There can be one caregiver for up to two registered little peeps.
What information should I have before I start my child’s registration?
You will be asked to supply specific personal information, see the Class Registration Guide section for details. We also recommend that you look at the list of classes available before you begin your registration.
How do I know my child is registered in the class?
You must hit the “add to cart” button to save your space in the class and finish the payment process. You can reference the Class Registration Guide to prepare.
If the class is sold out, you may add your camper to the wait list. (Link will be posted on registration day).
I add the class(es) to my cart, but my items disappeared when I went to pay?
Little Peeps is a highly demanded event and sells out fast! If you went to check out and your items have disappeared, it is mainly due to those spots being sold out and no longer available.

Winter Class Topics
This winter we will focus on dragons! Dragon peeps will learn about the lore of four different dragons, where they came from, and which real animals live in the same habitat.
The Sea Serpent: January 4, 5
What does it take to survive under water? This week we will learn about the different animals that live under the water in Scandinavia, and what they have on their body to survive in cold habitats!
The Ninki Nanka: January 11, 12
The Ninki Nanka has hard scales to protect its body in the swamps of Africa. Who else might live there? Come explore the African marshlands and the diverse wildlife that shares this habitat with a fearsome dragon!
The Wyvern: January 18, 19
The woodlands throughout Europe are filled with hedgehogs, foxes, deer, and wyverns, of course! This week we will learn about this poison-breathing dragon and which real-life animals it shares its habitat with.
The Amphiptere: January 25, 26
How do animals survive in the desert? The amphiptere needs special adaptations to survive, and so do many others that call Saudi Arabia home. Come and learn about the desert habitat and the people and animals that call it home.

Spring Class Topics
Spring classes this year are called Creature Features! Every class will highlight one specific animal group, and all the lessons, crafts and books will be focused on learning more about what makes this animal special and unique. As always, students and parents will watch animal enrichments or meet animals up close, have fun, and learn together!
