How do I become a Member?

It's easy! You can join online right now, or call (916) 808-5888 to join over the phone. You can also become a member next time you visit the zoo. Just come to the Member Entrance and sign up at the window!

Is membership a value for me?

The average family need only visit the Sacramento Zoo two to three times per year to cover the cost of a membership. In addition to being able to visit the Zoo as often as desired, you no longer have the concern of staying for a certain time period to get your money's worth. Drop by for a morning walk, a quick lunch, or an afternoon of play, and then bring everyone back for a weekend event.

Which membership type would best fit my situation?

The Sacramento Zoological Society has a range of membership options designed to meet the needs of most of our visitors. Specific questions regarding which membership is the best fit should be addressed to the Member & Visitor Services Office at (916) 808-5888 or e-mail us.

Does my membership allow admission to other zoos and aquariums?

The Sacramento Zoological Society currently reciprocates with over 150 zoos and aquariums throughout the United States and Canada. Our members usually receive 50% off admission to these zoos and aquariums.

Is membership to Fairytale Town included with my Sacramento Zoological Society membership?

Membership to Fairytale Town is not included with any of our Sacramento Zoological Society memberships, however, Fairytale Town does offer its own memberships. You can find more information by visiting their website.

Is my membership tax deductible?

Membership is tax deductible less the fair market value of items received, whether used or not. The fair market value of benefits received is not substantial for the Member PLUS Pack level and below. Please call (916) 808-5888 if you have questions regarding the fair market value of benefits received at the Zoo Builder level and above.

Can I purchase a membership on the day I visit the Zoo?

You can purchase your membership at the Member Entrance when you arrive at the Zoo, or you can go to the Member & Visitor Services Office inside the Zoo.

If I decide to join after my visit, can I apply the cost of my admission tickets towards my membership?

Yes, but you must purchase your membership on the same day that you purchased your tickets. Please note that only those individuals covered by the level of membership you purchase will have their admissions applied to the cost of the membership.

How can I give a gift membership?

If you have the address and phone number for whom you would like to purchase a gift, you can sign up here, or call (916) 808-5888 to sign up over the phone. You may also purchase a gift membership next time you visit the Zoo.
If you do not have the contact information for whom you would like to purchase the gift, you may call (916) 808-5888 to purchase a gift certificate over the phone, or you may get one on your next visit to the Zoo.

How does the person I give a gift certificate to actually redeem it, is there an expiration date?

A gift certificate can be redeemed by mailing it to the Zoo at:

or it can be redeemed in person at the Zoo.
There is no expiration date on a gift certificate.

Does the membership run a calendar year (January thru December) or from the date of purchase?

All of our memberships are valid one year from the date of purchase; so If you purchase your membership on March 15, 2016, it will be valid until March 31, 2017.
