Sacramento Zoo Field Trip Options
Our Docents (volunteer educator) lead a half-hour educational, interactive program in the Discovery Room. This seasonal program is available Tuesday-Friday, except Mother’s Day - August 19th. The program is designed for students in grades K-2. The topics and concepts fit well with the Open Court and the Science Framework Content Standards for each grade. The maximum number of students per day for the program is 60. Three weeks advanced registration is required.
Please note: If the class is larger than 30 students, the class will be split into 2 groups and receive two back-to-back programs.
Start times: (Spring) 9:30 am or 10:15 am, (Fall/winter) 10:15 am
School groups must have 10 or more attendees to qualify for the discounted admission rate.
Reservations will be available December 16th.
Survive and Thrive: An animal adaptation show (seasonal)
This 20 minute, interactive show features three Animal Ambassadors and takes your students on a worldwide habitat tour to discover how an animal's survival is dependent on their adaptations.
- Months available: March/April and September/October
- Available: Tuesday - Thursdays (plus Fridays in September/October)
- Program begins at 10:00 a.m. at the amphitheatre
- 200 persons maximum
- Cost: $2.50 per person
Career Talk - Group Presentation
Is your group interested in careers within the animal field? This 20 minute program highlights the various job opportunities at a zoo or wildlife facility. After a short animal presentation, the Interpretive Center staff hosts a question and answer session, complete with information on college courses, volunteering, and other ways to get started. The cost of this program is $25. Email the Reservation Specialist to schedule a program or call (916) 808-8814.
