What's Happening: It’s time for the eleventh annual King of Feasts at the Sacramento Zoo. Enjoy delicious food from Sacramento’s finest restaurants and food trucks. Also sample local beers, wines and premium spirits while celebrating with Sacramento’s most famous animals.

From 6 pm to 9 pm on Saturday, June 23rd, the Sacramento Zoological Society will host King of Feasts, a food and wine luau with a Sacramento twist. It will feature a wide selection of local beers, wines, premium spirits and mouth-watering specialties offered by the Sacramento region’s finest restaurants and food trucks. This isn’t a crowded event where you wait in long lines; instead, you’ll find plenty of food, beverages and entertainment throughout the lush landscape of the 14 acre Zoo.

Break out your luau attire and prepare for a unique evening of international aloha-flavor for adults. Relax with entertainment and food. The evening will include Ukulele players, Polynesian dancers and three silent auctions featuring one-of-a-kind items.

Some of the restaurants providing delicious samples include: Mulvaney's B&L / Culinary Specialists, Piatti’s, Kru Restaurant, Pyramid Alehouse, Revolution Winery & Bistro, Giovanni's Pizza, Grateful Bread, Hillstone Olive Oil, Iron Steaks, Just 4 U Catering, Kentucky Fried Chicken, Lucero Olive Oil, The Melting Pot, Rubio's Fresh Mexican Grill, Sacramento Natural Foods Co-op, Taste of the Wild Catering and Vic’s Ice Cream. Adding to the selection of Sacramento flavors will be local food trucks Drewski’s Hot Rod Kitchen, Heavenly Dog Hot Dogs and Willie Burgers.

Breweries, wineries and beverages include: Barefoot Wine & Bubbly, Bogle Winery, Coca-Cola, Carvalho Family Winery, Dancing Coyote Wines, Hoppy Brewing Company, Lost Coast Brewery, Michael-David Winery, Oakstone Winery, Purple Pearl Vineyards, Pyramid Alehouse, Renwood Winery, Revolution Winery & Bistro, River City Brewing Company, Scribner Bend Vineyards, Sierra Nevada Brewing Co., Terra d'Oro Winery, Three Wine Company, Twisted Rivers Wines and Two Rivers Cider Co.

This is the eleventh consecutive year for the event, which draws hundreds of participants annually. Because of this fundraiser, the Zoo will close early at 1:30 p.m. that day to prepare for the Luau.

Sacramento Zoo – Celebrating 85 years!

Open since 1927, the Sacramento Zoo is home to more than 500 native, rare and endangered animals and is one of over 200 accredited institutions of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums.  Located near the corner of Land Park Drive and Sutterville Road in William Land Park, the Zoo is wholly managed by the non-profit Sacramento Zoological Society.  This Sacramento treasure inspires conservation awareness through education and recreation.  Open daily from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, general admission is $11.25; children ages 2-11 are $7.25 and one and under are admitted free.  Parking is free throughout the park or ride Regional Transit bus #6.
