The zoo is proud of its ongoing conservation activities and educational programs servicing nearly 71,000 students, teachers, and chaperones annually. Focusing on our 3-5-year-old demographic, Little Peeps classes include mini lessons, fun crafts, stories, songs, animal encounters, and activity ideas to continue learning fun at home. In its 10th year of production Little Peeps impacts 500 kids each year.
Engaging local teens between the ages of 13-19 years old who are interested in animals, the earth and our community. The program teaches teens to develop their own ideals, views and passions along with encouraging zoo patrons to become better stewards of the Earth. Zoo teens are constantly learning and honing in their skills with public speaking, and are taught confidence and initiative. They are encouraged and supported to excel in school and the workplace and even have their own board of directors.
Reaching more than 10,000 students annually in the Sacramento and surrounding areas, the ZooMobile has been bringing live animals to pre-K through 12th grade classrooms, community center or libraries for the last 30+ years. Each classroom visit focuses on meeting the Next Generation Disciplinary Core Ideas set by the state. Topics include natural selection, adaptations, genetics, evolution, structure functions, earth sciences, and conservation. Our education specialist will even create specialized programs to fit a teachers objectives.
With 30+ years of success, both summer and winter camps reach 1,000’s of K thru 9th graders each year. Each session focused on a different educational theme is packed with fun crafts, games, music, special visits with animal ambassadors, keeper talks, animal enrichment opportunities and more. Hands on classes have taught campers how to budget to run a zoo, develop and perform their own wildlife stage shows and so on.

Zoo Train & Station Naming Opportunity
A staple attraction for the last 10 years and the zoo’s first attraction, 50,000 guest enjoy a train ride each year. Each of the train cars provides an open air ride that the guests will never forget in unique hand-painted cars. The sponsor can select one of the cars to display their logo. The sponsor will receive naming rights to the train ride with their name and logo featured throughout the station. The sponsor’s name will also be featured on the zoo map and any mention of the zoo train.
Directional Signage & Zoo Maps
Directional signs inside the zoo guide our guests and enhance the overall experience. Your message on a directional sign can build awareness of your product or service.
