Bring the Zoo to You

From classrooms to senior centers, libraries to churches, let us bring the zoo to you! The ZooMobile* program brings live Animal Ambassadors to you, for groups of 35 people or fewer within an hour’s drive

*The ZooMobile does not visit private homes.

ZooMobile: Live Animal Presentation

Morning Program

  • Program is available between 8 am to noon.
  • Program is offered all year; Mondays – Fridays.
  • We will do up to three back-to-back programs per morning, in the same presentation room. Back-to-back programs are one program immediately after the other.

Afternoon Program

  • Program is available between 1:30 to 4 pm.
  • Program is offered January – March & September – December; Mondays – Fridays.
  • We will do up to two back-to-back programs per afternoon, in the same presentation room. Back-to-back programs are one program immediately after the other.
  • Travel boundaries are reduced for the afternoon programs.

Payment Information

  • No deposit required.
  • Payments are not required at time of booking, however it is an option.
  • Payments are due to the Sacramento Zoo 10 days prior to your program date to avoid cancellation and/or late fee.
  • The Sacramento Zoo does not except purchase orders.

More than an hour’s drive away?
Extra Travel Fee: $100, plus two programs minimum must be purchased to secure your date.

ZooMobile based on grade level

If booking more than one program, you may choose different grade levels for each. If you have multiple grade levels in a group, please choose the grade level that contains the focus that best meets your needs.

Preschool
Length: 20 minutes
Maximum capacity: 20 students (ages 3-5)
Focus: Animal movements
Includes: 4 live animals, biofacts, optional story
Cost: $190 per program or two back-to-back programs for $250
Discount is on second program and is without breaks in-between programs.

Kindergarten
Length: 45 minutes
Maximum capacity: 35 students
Focus: Relationships in Ecosystems
Includes: 4 live animals and biofacts

Cost: $250 per program

First Grade
Length: 45 minutes
Maximum capacity: 35 students
Focus: Growth and Development of Organisms

Second Grade
Length: 45 minutes

Focus: Biodiversity in Ecosystems

Third Grade
Length: 45 minutes

Fourth Grade
Length: 45 minutes

Fifth Grade
Length: 45 minutes

Sixth Grade through Twelfth Grade
Length: 45 minutes
Maximum capacity: 35 students
Focus: Due to the variety of NGSS standards for this age level, we offer a wide variety of custom Life Science NGSS programs for this age group. Topics include natural selection, adaptations, genetics, evolution, structure functions, earth sciences and conservation. After registering, an education specialist will contact you to discuss a program to fit your curriculum.

Senior/Adult ZooMobile Program Description
Length: 45 minutes
Maximum capacity: 35 attendees
Did you know there are parrots native to the United States? Who is California’s State reptile? What is being done to help animals in our Central Valley?
This 45-minute program highlights the world of animals right in our own backyard by featuring animals that are native to United States and California. We will discuss the changes that have happened to the local ecosystems over the past century, learn about the conservation programs that are preserving the local biodiversity, and discover how these amazing animals survive in their habitats.
Cost: $250 per program


Scholarships

The Sacramento Zoo strives to provide an outdoor educational experience to children of all ages regardless of their economic level. We offer many ways for children to foster an understanding and appreciation of wildlife. In an effort to continue to reach this goal, we are proudly offering grants to qualifying schools and families to allow them to experience the zoo. Visit the Scholarship page for details.
